Time limits are a useful feature of programs with parental controls. If you are a parent, you probably have had a problem with your child using the computer too much in a day. There are plenty of options that you can use to regulate your child’s time on the computer and in turn help their time management.
Timed Access
There are times in the day that you may not want your child to have computer access. For example, you may want to block their use during studying and homework time or late at night when they should be asleep. When using a program that has parental controls, you can regulate the time of day that your child has access to the computer. Having these limits for your child can ensure that they will not become distracted during times they shouldn’t be on the computer. It also can give you peace of mind that you don’t have to constantly tell them to get off the computer because of these parental controls.
Regulating Usage Time
You may struggle with the amount of time your child spends using the computer and may want to control their usage time. There are options to regulate this by using a program with parental controls. You can simply choose how long your child is allowed to be on the computer for each day. Then, when your child goes over the limit for the day it will automatically log them off of the computer and they will not have access any longer for that day. You can also regulate the amount of time your child uses the computer in a week or even a month. It is a simple regulation to set up, and with only a few clicks of a button, you can know that your child will not be able to excessively be using the computer on any given day.
Restricting Specific Access
There are even options to regulate the amount of time your child uses the Internet, not just the computer. You can limit the time they spend emailing, chatting, or playing games. This can be very helpful if you have a difficult time limiting your child’s time on a specific website or program.
Monitoring
If you want to be able to see what your child has been accessing, you can have an email sent to you with details of what they are viewing and how long they are viewing them. There are also programs that allow you to access the computer your child is on through a remote computer on the same network so that you can make changes to the regulations even if you are unable to access it.
If you have a difficult time with your child’s computer time, or you simply wish to not allow it to become a problem, using parental controls to create time limits is a perfect way to give you peace of mind regarding your child’s computer use.
